WBB Kicks Off Season Vs Fanshawe

It has been almost two years since the Conestoga Condors Women's Basketball Team has had a competitive league game. The team completed the pre-season preparation and is ready to start the OCAA regular season.  

Preseason Play

Condors played 6 pre-season games, starting the fall exhibition games in the Durham tournament with a win against Centennial 77-57 and a loss in a tight match against Durham 58-61.  

The Condors attended the Lambton Lions Invitational tournament at Lambton College. The Condors won their first game against St Clair 64-58, a loss against Lambton 51-64, and a win against Durham 58-45. In the win against Durham, Charlotte Clifford dropped a double-double with a game high of 39 points. The Condors finished the weekend with a 2-1 record 

Condors ended the pre-season preparation with a win against Centennials 71-60. Ramla Abdalla scored 19 points, with 8 rebounds. Camila Orellana Larach scored 15 points, 11 rebounds. Clifford added 14 while Taylor Doyle added another 12. 

The condors ended preseason with a 4-2 record.

The Squad

The 2021-2022 squad is led by 4 other returning Condors and 3 new recruits joining, including guards: Olivia Coomber and Abby Trafford. 

Coaching Team

As for the Coaching Staff, Dee Channer remains the Head Coach for the fifth year, and Doug Schenk is the Assistant Coach. Willy Henschel joined the team as a new Assistant Coach along with. Hunter Johns who laced up for the Condors in 2019-20. 

Condors start the 2021-22 OCAA regular season on Wednesday, February 9th, at 6:00 PM. They return home Friday February 11 to take on the Niagara Knights at 6:00 PM 

The Condors will be playing this season in the OCAA West Division. They will play each team once making up 8 games in the shortened OCAA season. Click here to see the full schedule.
