Instructional Programs

Do you want to get started in your fitness journey but are not sure where to start? These programs are designed to instruct and motivate you to get started and feel more confident doing so! The following three programs are slower paced than fitness classes with many modifications for all levels:

  • Introduction to Weight Training
  • Barbell Basics 
  • Ladies Who Lift

All programs begin the week of May 13. Check out more program detail below. 

 

How to Sign Up: Click the register button below each class to sign up for the class.

Membership: You must have an active full membership. For more information click here.

Cost: FREE, Available to all current Conestoga full-time Doon and Cambridge Fountain students!

What You Need: Water bottle and comfortable clothing.


Introduction to Weight Training

Mondays @ 3:00PM-4:00PM
Multi-Purpose Room 

This introduction will support students who are interested in learning the basic foundational movements in weight training such as Squat, Hinge, Lunge, Push and Pull Movements. Whether you are new to fitness or have experience - this is the perfect program for you!

Barbell Basics

Tuesdays and Wednesdays @ 3:00PM-4:00PM
Fitness Centre Track Area 

Learn proper form and technique for a variety of different dumbbell and barbell exercises. Knowing how intimidating it can be, our Certified Personal Trainer will provide you with a supportive space to get comfortable using barbells and dumbbells. In this program you will learn proper form for the squat, deadlift, bench press, and row. This is a technique-oriented class.

Week 1 & 2 - Barbell Back Squat Form + Technique 
Week 3 & 4 - Barbell Bench Press Form + Technique 
Week 4 & 5 - Barbell Bent Over Row Form + Technique 
Week 6 & 7 - Barbell Deadlift Form + Technique

Ladies Who Lift

Thursdays @ 3:00PM-4:00PM
Multi-Purpose Room

Ladies Who Lift is a female-identifying only program that is a safe, welcoming space to learn everything you need to feel comfortable in the fitness centre. This program is designed to change each week to target all major muscle groups in a variety of ways. We want to help you increase your strength and most importantly your confidence in and out of the gym.
