Condors drop first two games

The Conestoga Condors Women’s Basketball team initiated the OCAA 2022 season with two losses against the Fanshawe Falcons (1-0) and the Niagara Knights (2-0).

On Wednesday evening, the Condors traveled to the Glenn Johnston Athletics Centre to play against the Fanshawe Falcons.

The Condors started the game well, grabbing offensive rebounds. The Condors took the lead in the first quarter with a score of 18 – 15. However, the Falcons were able to improve their defense and reverse the score for the rest of the game. Taylor Doyle scored 12 points, and Olivia Coomber scored 12 points and secured 12 rebounds. The Condors suffer their first loss by a final score of 40 – 63. 

Forty-eight hours later, The Condors hosted Niagara Knights as the home opener game of the OCAA season. Charlotte Clifford had an outstanding performance scoring 22 points and securing 11 rebounds. While Ramla Abdalla added 10 points and 10 rebounds. The Condors (0-2) suffer their second loss by a final score of 44 – 69.

After a strong first week from Charlotte Clifford, her 25 rebounds puts her fourth in the OCAA while her 15 FTM leads the conference.

The Condors will be playing an away game against the Royals (1-1) on Wednesday, February 16, at 6 pm.

At this time no specatators are permitted inside the Student Recreation Centre.
