The Conestoga Condors are proud to announce that former cross-country standout Jason Smith has officially been inducted into the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) Hall of Fame. The induction ceremony took place on the evening of May 5, 2025, at the Pan Pacific Toronto hotel during the OCAA Hall of Fame Banquet, where athletes, coaches, and builders from across the province gathered to celebrate excellence in collegiate sport.

Jason becomes just the fifth athlete in Conestoga Condors history to earn a place in the OCAA Hall of Fame. He joins an elite group that includes:

Fawn Day – Softball – Inducted in 2009

Penny English – Women’s Soccer – Inducted in 2009

Dave Long – Hockey – Inducted in 2013

David Sharratt – Cross Country – Inducted in 2023

Jason’s induction is made even more meaningful as he joins his former cross-country teammate David Sharratt among the Hall of Fame ranks, further cementing the legacy of Conestoga’s running program.

A two-time OCAA individual gold medalist, a team gold medalist, and a two-time team MVP, Jason’s legacy is built on determination, grit, and an unwavering commitment to excellence. His unique training approach, mental toughness, and perseverance helped elevate the Condors program to new heights and inspired a generation of student-athletes that followed.

“It means a lot. It’s recognition for the hard work that you put in,” Jason said. “You don’t expect anything in return when you’re training and competing in an individual sport—it’s something you do for your own growth. So when someone acknowledges it, it’s rare, and it’s special. To be that person, to be honoured in this way—it’s pretty cool.”

Director, Sport and Recreation Andrew Bates:

“On behalf of the Conestoga Condors, I want to offer my sincere congratulations to Jason on his induction into the OCAA Hall of Fame. This well-deserved honour reflects not only his remarkable athletic accomplishments—including multiple OCAA gold medals and MVP awards—but also the relentless drive and commitment he demonstrated throughout his time as a Condor. Jason’s legacy continues to inspire future Condors, and we are incredibly proud to see him recognized among the best in Ontario collegiate sport. Congratulations, Jason!”

This Hall of Fame induction follows another recent accolade for Jason, who was named one of the Top 50 CCAA Cross-Country Runners of All Time, further solidifying his place in Canadian collegiate athletics history.

The Conestoga Condors extend their heartfelt congratulations to Jason on this incredible and well-deserved honour!
