Men's Indoor Soccer Captures OCAA Bronze
Condors Capture Bronze at OCAA Indoor Soccer Championships
The Conestoga Condors Men's Indoor Soccer team delivered an outstanding performance at the 2025 OCAA Indoor Soccer Championships, securing the bronze medal at the Ontario Soccer Centre in Vaughan, ON, on March 6th and 7th.
The road to the championship tournament showcased the Condors' dominance, as they went undefeated (4-0) in regional qualifiers with an impressive 14 goals scored and none conceded. Carrying that momentum into the championship, the team battled fiercely against Ontario’s top collegiate squads.
In their opening match, the Condors edged out the Sheridan Bruins 1-0 in an emotional match, with Gamtessa Berehe providing the decisive goal. The team then faced the George Brown Huskies in a hard-fought contest but fell 4-2 despite goals from Saab Kohar and Matteo Grant. Bouncing back, Conestoga shut out the Centennial Colts 2-0, with Evan Antolcic and Saab Kohar finding the back of the net.
The semi-final matchup against the Humber Hawks was a nail-biter, ending in a 0-0 draw through regulation. A tightly contested penalty shootout ultimately saw the Condors fall just short, setting up a bronze medal showdown against the Fanshawe Falcons.
Determined to finish on the podium, the Condors overcame an early 1-0 deficit with an inspired offensive display. Luca Romano responded swiftly with a goal, capitalizing on a pinpoint pass from Gamtessa Berehe. Romano struck again to put the Condors ahead 2-1, and Matteo Grant extended the lead with a thunderous shot before halftime. Fanshawe managed a second-half goal, but Conestoga held firm to claim the 3-2 victory and the bronze medal.
After an impressive showing Alex Tutunjian was named to the OCAA Indoor Soccer Championship All-Star team.
With a stellar tournament effort, the Condors reaffirmed their place among the province’s elite, demonstrating resilience, teamwork, and skill throughout. Congratulations to the players and coaching staff on an impressive season and a well-earned spot on the OCAA podium!
