Condors Esports Name Anton Sayegh as Head Coach of Counter-Strike

The Conestoga Condors are excited to announce the addition of Anton Sayegh as our new Head Coach of the Counter-Strike Esports team. Sayegh's passion for gaming and experience as a community builder within esports provides a wealth of knowledge and an engaging presence to our program. We are excited to have him with us as we continue to grow Condors Esports!

Growing up, Sayegh was introduced to video games through his brother. Their shared love for gaming led them to spend countless hours at internet cafes, playing a wide range of games that their home computer couldn't handle. Sayegh developed a love for first-person shooter games like Call of Duty and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS: GO). His passion for esports led him to pursue studies in Esports Development, making his role as Head Coach a perfect fit with his academic pursuits.

Sayegh recognizes that upcoming updates to Counter-Strike will level the playing field, introducing new mechanics and maps that demand adaptability. In the upcoming season, the ability to swiftly adapt to these changes will be key to success. Coach Sayegh believes this presents a unique opportunity for Conestoga's team to gain a competitive edge against other squads.

Sayegh's passion for organizing online tournaments shines through as he regularly hosts events complete with casting, sponsors, competitive participants, brackets, and prizing. This commitment to fostering a vibrant esports community drives his coaching aspirations, and he intends to expand these initiatives further with Condors Esports.

Although formal coaching is a new challenge for Sayegh, he has already demonstrated exceptional leadership skills as a team leader at the competitive level, effectively assuming the role of coach within his tournament teams. He is excited to be a part of the Conestoga esports community, aiming to share his love for esports and cultivate a supportive environment that removes stigma. Sayegh envisions Conestoga as a safe space where players can train, compete, and thrive without reservation.

Coach Sayegh's coaching approach revolves around meeting the individual needs of each player and providing unwavering support. He firmly believes that you must let the players play their own game to be successful. Understanding the players' needs and expectations is of utmost importance to him as he strives to support their growth. With Coach Sayegh’s leadership we will be promoting our CS: GO academy team to the varsity level in the fall.

Zack Dodge, Supervisor of Esports Operations for the Conestoga Condors expressed his excitement for Coach Sayegh’s arrival, stating, “Anton’s enthusiasm towards student-athlete development and competition will bring Condors Counter-Strike to the next level in 23/24. The Counter-Strike community is incredibly active at Conestoga and we are excited to watch our team advance from Academy into the Varsity portfolio this Fall - Anton and his grounded approach to team building will raise the bar."
