Last Season's Recap

Stepping onto the pitch with determination, the Condors Women's Soccer Team had a challenging season last year. Marred by injuries they fought to a 2-6-2 season. However, the team’s outlook remained positive, and they saw a successful indoor season that showcased their potential. As they gear up for the upcoming season, the team is fueled by a roster of returning talents and a wave of exciting new recruits. With their sights set high, they are ready to redefine themselves as strong competitors on the pitch. 


 The Conestoga players have been competing with their respective summer teams, and this valuable experience has led to remarkable personal and player development. These valuable experiences will translate into substantial growth for the Condors, as each player brings back enhanced abilities and insights that are bound to elevate the team's performance. 

Key Returning Players 

The team welcomes an impressive roster of steadfast players making their return this year. Among the standout athletes to keep an eye on are: 

Megan Heyes– Emerging from a season-curbing injury that allowed her to participate in only two games last year, the Condors wholeheartedly welcome back Megan. Resuming her role as the starting center fullback and Co-Captain, Megan's presence on the field is set to infuse the team with renewed vigour. 

Mollie Foy– Joining forces with Megan in the pivotal center-back position and co-captain is the talented Mollie Foy. Mollie's skills and leadership, combined with her great communication, promise to fortify the team’s defence and control the field from the back line forward.  

Ashley Blazek – Is a phenomenal on-the-ball and technical player Her ability to command the game's tempo, coupled with her knack for finding the net and crafting opportunities for her teammates, positions her as an instrumental force on the field. 


 Exciting New Players 

The roster is brimming with an impressive array of experienced new additions, each bringing unique skills that will complement our returning players and will look to make an immediate impact on the squad: 

Megan Voutour – An exceptional addition to the team, Megan brings a unique perspective as she transitions from last year's Assistant Coach to a player this year. Her ability to control the middle of the field, break through defensive lines, and finish will undoubtedly be a force throughout the OCAA. 

Ella Chase – Joining us from Ottawa University, Ella is a confident striker with an incredible first touch and proven scoring abilities. Her dynamic presence on the field promises to be a game-changer. 

Erika Phillips – Having showcased her prowess as an elite defender during the indoor season last year, Erika joins the ranks for the outdoor season. Previously playing at Guelph University, her quickness and adeptness add a dynamic edge to the back line. 

Kara Hughes – Kara Joins the Condors from Laurier Brantford, where she competed on the Indoor soccer team and Cross Country Team. Her multifaceted athleticism is a testament to her versatility.  Her top-notch decision-making and speed are bound to be an asset in the outside mid as she outmaneuvers opponents and sets the pace of plays. 

Maddy Sloan – Maddie is a poised and confident presence in the goal, boasting a remarkable first touch and an exceptional ability to play with her feet. Her skills are set to provide a significant boost to the roster, adding depth to the lineup and allowing the team to play and reset through the back confidently.  

Brooke Meyer and Hope Grubb– Stand out as two fantastic recruits who have shone in tryouts, exceeding expectations and meeting the team’s standard.  

Additionally, the team has seen several promising potential players who have showcased their talents during tryouts. The blend of established talent and emerging prospects is painting a bright future for the Condors. 

Despite being newcomers to the squad, each of these players brings a wealth of valuable experience, exceptional technical skill and remarkable leadership qualities that are set to elevate the team's dynamics. 


 Coach’s Perspective 

Stepping into the new season, Head Coach Peter Mackie's focus is on ensuring a seamless integration of the talented freshmen alongside the seasoned returning players. This is not just about gameplay; it's about embracing and internalizing the core values that define the Condors Women’s Soccer team's culture. A paramount goal for the team is building and fostering lasting relationships between players that extend beyond the field. With exceptional recruits and dedicated returning players, the team is setting its sights on making the OCAA playoffs.  

Keys to Success 

The team has its sights set on being competitive and a difficult team to play against. With a technically strong team, the emphasis lies on enhancing team fitness levels while prioritizing the maintenance of players' physical and mental well-being. A cornerstone of the team’s achievements rests on fostering and nurturing a cohesive team relationship.  


Player Perspective  

Although last year’s campaign had its ups and downs, Co-Captain Megan Hayes stated that she believes the team bonded through adversity creating strong team chemistry, and said, “The mentality going into this year is that we want to compete with every team in the league.”
