Condors Men’s Basketball Playoff Preview
Condors Men’s Basketball Set for OCAA Playoff Qualifier Against Georgian Grizzlies
The Conestoga Condors men’s basketball team is gearing up for their OCAA Playoff Qualifying matchup against the Georgian Grizzlies this Saturday, February 15th, at 3:30 PM. The game will be held at Michele McConney Court in Barrie, where the Condors will look to upset the Eastern division no. 2 seed and punch their ticket to the next round. The winner will advance to the OCAA Quarterfinals.
Conestoga (6-12) enters the playoffs as the 7th seed in the OCAA West Division, while Georgian (16-2) finished 2nd in the East. Despite the contrast in regular season records, the Condors have shown steady improvement and are confident heading into this high-stakes contest.
Condors Poised for the Challenge
The Condors are led by standout forward Emanuel Liyaw, who has been a force on both ends of the floor, averaging 12.8 points per game while leading the team in rebounds with 171. Landon Hart has also been a key contributor, averaging 10.7 points per game with a team-high 110 defensive rebounds. Captain Ozay Davis, a veteran leader, has provided steady scoring at 10.6 PPG and has been the heart of the team’s grit and determination. Playmaker Adam Eichholz has been instrumental in setting up the offense, leading the team with 55 assists.
Reflecting on the regular season, Davis acknowledged the team’s growth and readiness for the postseason. “Our team has made a big improvement from the beginning of the year. At the beginning of the year, we struggled punching first in games, which set us back a couple of steps. We are not that team anymore—we bring the fight from tip-off, and I believe that was a big boost to our second semester. I’m looking forward to continuing to build with this team.”
Scouting the Grizzlies
Georgian boasts one of the most potent offenses in the OCAA, averaging 89.2 points per game. The Grizzlies are led by Trey Wilson, who has racked up 231 points this season while averaging 16.5 PPG. Uzziah Glasgow and Jason Sache have each contributed 12.4 PPG, forming a balanced scoring attack. Sean Marseille leads the team on the boards with 118 rebounds, adding to their strong interior presence. The Grizzlies have shot an efficient 45.8% from the field this season.
The Mindset Heading into the Playoffs
Despite the challenge ahead, the Condors are embracing the opportunity to make a statement. Captain Ozay Davis shared the team’s mindset heading into the playoffs: “We are very confident. We worked so hard to get to this point of the season. With that being said, it all starts with our preparation. We need high-energy and high-focus practices this week. We have a chance to shock the league, and me and the guys are up for that challenge.”
With their resilience and team-first mentality, the Condors are ready to give it their all on Saturday. Tip-off is set for 3:30 PM—fans can follow the action and cheer on the team as they battle for a spot in the next round of the OCAA playoffs.
