I'm Alex Cruickshank, also called "Cyrostims," an Advertising and Marketing Communications student. I have previous studies in Broadcasting Performance & Digital Media and President's Honour List IT Innovation and Design. My plans for my future are to become an Esports broadcaster, mainly for the League of Legends scene. Otherwise, I hope to be involved in the Esports streaming industry on a professional level or continue contributing to the growth of Conestoga in its esports program.
For me, gaming and Esports are a fundamental part of my life. I started gaming on my parents' SNES that they got as a wedding gift. Eventually, I convinced them to get me a Game Boy Color and, then shortly after, an Xbox, where my love of video gaming took off. At that time, my knowledge of esports was limited, and to be a pro, you had to be one of the few insanely good players. As time passed, so did the gaming culture and Esports eventually started to become viable. Around this time, I was just starting to get into League of Legends, and it's the only esports I actively followed for multiple leagues and regions. It was my gateway to watching esports and being a spectator for it. That is when the pandemic and Conestoga College's esports program made all the difference to me despite not making the team the first year. I was able to stick around in the environment, and wanting to contribute to the program, I offered to broadcast their matches. This fell flat as it was too big a task, but it put me in touch with the OPSE League commissioner, who then got me started with shoutcasting. After that first cast, I knew I wanted a career in esports, even though it'll never be as a player.

Favorite video games: Halo Wars, Destiny, and Ark: Survival Evolved.
Fun facts about me: I can wriggle my eyebrows. I describe it as my only party trick, and it is beneficial for disrupting someone who is giving a presentation.
Hobbies: I love reading speculative fiction (high fantasy type stuff), I write occasionally, I collect Star Wars Lego, and I do freelance shoutcasting for various Rocket League and League of Legends leagues.
