David Sharratt Inducted Into the OCAA Hall of Fame
At an awards ceremony in Windsor, Ontario on Monday, May 1st, Conestoga Condor David Sharratt was inducted into the OCAA Hall of Fame in the Athletes Category.
David led the Conestoga Condors Cross Country team from 2007 to 2009. During that time, he established himself as the top runner in the province, winning back-to-back OCAA Gold Medals in 2007 and 2008. In addition, David was a two-time recipient of the Conestoga College Athlete of the Year award and a three-time OCAA All-Academic.
Today, David continues to give back to the Condors as the Coach of the Cross-Country team.
When asked for comment David said, “It is a big honour to be inducted into the OCAA Hall of Fame. I was surprised and humbled when I received the news. High achievement is something that every athlete strives for. It is nice to have your hard work and personal accomplishments acknowledged and to know that my running career with Conestoga will be remembered for years to come through the OCAA Hall of Fame. I ran for Conestoga a number of years ago and I am really enjoying being back to coach the Condors Cross Country team. I hope that the students that I coach can look up to me and see that competing at a high level is entirely possible. I have been in their shoes and like to think I can help them realize what it takes to fulfill the goals they have set for themselves. I am happy to be able to be a part of the team again and to pass on any wisdom I have gained throughout my experiences as an athlete.”
