Overview
The Varsity Operations Assistant will assist in executing the day-to-day tasks in support of the varsity portfolio. This position will work closely with the Manager, Varsity and Community Engagement with guidance and leadership from the varsity coordinators, coaches, and various facility staff to assist in the overall management of varsity operations. The position will work closely with our varsity teams for practice and game day tasks with responsibility for equipment, uniforms and tasks as assigned by the department and team programs. The position will be scheduled for up to 35 hours per week, depending on department needs. The rate of pay is $17.20 per hour. The start date is April 2025 for training and regular hours to follow.
Roles and Responsibilities

Support varsity operations for game day events, community engagemt including equipment maintenance

Prepare game day technical and statistical operations

Other duties as required
Qualifications
-
Be in a full-time degree, diploma or certificate program in the upcoming semester, approved for funding by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities (MTCU), OR enrolled in the upcoming semester.

Maintain a full-time course load upcoming term. Part-time studies may be allowed for students who are registered with Accessibility Services and require a reduced load

Have a valid Social Insurance Number

Available to work daytime, evening, and/or weekend work hours
Preference will be given to students eligible for Work Study. Additional paperwork is not required at the time of application. Work Study eligibility includes the following requirements:
International Students Must:

Hold a valid Canadian study permit that allows on-campus employment

Adhere to all requirements stated on their study permit & Canadian student visa

Provide a digital copy of their Study and Work permits
Domestic Students Must:

Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or protected person (under the immigration act)

Be eligible for OSAP, or another province’s student financial assistance program and show at least one dollar of need on their assessment. Or, be in receipt of funding from a First Nations band, or similar sponsoring agency, and provide a budget demonstrating financial need

Provide a letter of explanation and budget demonstrating financial need if they are restricted from OSAP or another Provincial Government student assistance program. Restricted students are expected to be working toward bringing their student aid status back into good standing
