Overview
The student photographer will lead the Athletics & Recreation Departments’ photography content, suggest refreshing methods of delivery, and work to create a strong photo library. The incumbent should be a strong team member as they work to execute photography requests for all platforms in a designated area of interest (ex. Student Recreation, Varsity Athletics, Esports, and student wellness etc.). The incumbent should be comfortable with creative and unique ways to distribute material for print, web, and social media.
The position will be both on-campus (Doon) as well as remote work (hybrid). To support student academic success, regular scheduled hours will not exceed 10-15 hours per week. The maximum weekly hour limit for all part-time student work contracts with Conestoga College is 24 hours per week. The rate of pay is $17.63 per hour.
Roles and Responsibilities

A background in photography and strong DSLR camera knowledge is an asset

Live event and sport photography, varsity home games, esports, wellness and recreation
-
Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills is needed

Experience producing digital photography and photo manipulation

Proficient experience and comfort with computer software (Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Cloud)
Qualifications

Be registered in a full-time degree, diploma, or certificate program in the upcoming semester

Maintain a full-time course load in the upcoming semester. Part time studies may be allowed for students who are registered with Accessibility Services and require a reduced load

Maintain a satisfactory academic progress – passing 60% of courses and actively progressing through program

Have a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN)

Available to work daytime, evening and/or weekend work hours

Experience and proficiency with computer applications, basic knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud (Lightroom, Photoshop, InDesign etc.)

A portfolio which demonstrates strong photography fundamentals

Organized and hard working

Experience photographing live events or sports
-
Experience shooting for social media, print and web.
Preference will be given to students eligible for Work Study. Additional paperwork is not required at the time of application. Work Study eligibility includes the following requirements:
International Students Must:

Hold a valid Canadian study permit that allows on-campus employment

Adhere to all requirements stated on their study permit & Canadian student visa

Provide a digital copy of their Study and Work permits
Domestic Students Must:

Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or protected person (under the immigration act)

Be eligible for OSAP, or another province’s student financial assistance program and show at least one dollar of need on their assessment. Or be in receipt of funding from a First Nations band, or similar sponsoring agency, and provide a budget demonstrating financial need

Provide a letter of explanation and budget demonstrating financial need if they are restricted from OSAP or another Provincial Government student assistance program. Restricted students are expected to be working toward bringing their student aid status back into good standing
