Overview
The Fitness Services Attendant provides essential front line customer service including program and facility information, access control support, and student wellness engagement to Student Recreation Centre users. The attendant will oversee the daily operations of the Fitness Centre and Multi-Purpose Rooms (MPR) to ensure safe participation and a positive experience in fitness programming and use of facilities for the Conestoga community. The position will be scheduled up to 10-15 hours per week at the Doon campus, depending on department needs. The rate of pay is $17.20 per hour. The training start date will be April 2025 with regular hours to follow, depending on department needs.
Roles and Responsibilities

Provide front line customer service to members accessing the Fitness Centre or Multi-Purpose Rooms (MPR) within the Student Recreation Centre

Monitor facility access at reception desks located at either the Fitness Centre or Multi-Purpose Rooms

Perform cleaning, disinfection, and organization of facility and equipment

Assist members with wayfinding and navigating throughout the facility and amenities

Process and follow-up on program bookings, registrations, email inquiries, and attendance

Setup all Fitness Classes and Wellness Programs occurring in Fitness Centre and MPRs

Provide program and information related to fitness and recreational activities

Assist members with safe operation and use of fitness machines, equipment and technology

Enforce facility policies and procedures, encourage proper facility etiquette

Assist with front desk and special events as required

Other duties as required
Qualifications
-
Be in a full-time degree, diploma or certificate program in the upcoming semester, that has been approved for funding by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities (MTCU)

Maintain a full-time course load in the upcoming term. Part time studies may be allowed for students who are registered with Accessibility Services and require a reduced load

Maintain a satisfactory academic progress – passing 60% of courses and actively progressing through program

Have a valid Social Insurance Number

Available to work daytime, evening and/or weekend work hours
Preference will be given to students who are Work Study eligible. Additional paperwork is not required at the time of application. Work Study eligibility includes the following requirements:
International Students Must:

Hold a valid Canadian study permit that allows on-campus employment

Adhere to all requirements stated on their study permit & Canadian student visa

Provide a digital copy of their Study and Work permits
Domestic Students Must:

Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or protected person (under the immigration act)

Be eligible for OSAP, or another province’s student financial assistance program and show at least one dollar of need on their assessment. Or, be in receipt of funding from a First Nations band, or similar sponsoring agency, and provide a budget demonstrating financial need

Provide a letter of explanation and budget demonstrating financial need if they are restricted from OSAP or another Provincial Government student assistance program. Restricted students are expected to be working toward bringing their student aid status back into good standing
