Overview
The Communications and Content Assistant is responsible for providing support to the Sport and Recreation Coordinator through the creation of promotional content to support the awareness, student engagement, and growth of Condors Athletics on various publishing platforms. Duties include; creating, scheduling, and publishing media content to our social media channels (graphic design, hootsuite, social media channels). The Communications and Content Assistant will also support the streaming of varsity athletics through the operation of video cameras. The position will be scheduled up to 10-15 hours per week at the Doon campus, depending on department needs. The rate of pay is $17.63 per hour. The training start date will be early April 2025 with regular hours to follow, depending on department needs.
Roles and Responsibilities

Create communications content to drive engagement and program growth towards Condor's media channels (social, web, and stream).

Assist with the game day video streams of varsity athletic events (video camera operation).

Graphic design. Prepare multimedia assets to support the affiliated communication campaigns for Condors Athletics, Recreation, and Esports.

Analyze sector best practices in the athletics and communications field to assist in auditing and shifting strategies when needed.

Collects and reports data and analytics to guide current and future communication efforts to enhance engagement with Condors Athletics.

Qualifications
-
Be in a full-time degree, diploma, or certificate program in the upcoming semester, that has been approved for funding by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities (MTCU).

Maintain a full-time course load in the upcoming term. Part time studies may be allowed for students who are registered with Accessibility Services and require a reduced load

Maintain a satisfactory academic progress – passing 60% of courses and actively progressing through program

Have a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN)
-
Available to work daytime, evening and/or weekend work hours
-
Experience in streaming video game content on popular platforms.
-
Professional social media presence experience
-
Strong communication skills (written and verbal).

Knowledge of Condors programming and athletics.

Experience with graphic design (Adobe CC – InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, etc)
Preference will be given to students eligible for Work Study. Additional paperwork is not required at the time of application. Work Study eligibility includes the following requirements:
International Students Must:

Hold a valid Canadian study permit that allows on-campus employment

Adhere to all requirements stated on their study permit & Canadian student visa

Provide a digital copy of their Study and Work permits
Domestic Students Must:

Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or protected person (under the immigration act)

Be eligible for OSAP, or another province’s student financial assistance program and show at least one dollar of need on their assessment. Or be in receipt of funding from a First Nations band, or similar sponsoring agency, and provide a budget demonstrating financial need

Provide a letter of explanation and budget demonstrating financial need if they are restricted from OSAP or another Provincial Government student assistance program. Restricted students are expected to be working toward bringing their student aid status back into good standing
