WVB Grab Their First Win!

The Conestoga Condors Women's Volleyball team won their first game of the OCAA 2022 season against the Sheridan Bruins (0-3) in an away game at Oakville and lost against the Niagara Knights (2-2) in the first home game this season.

The Condors had a decent start and kept the same pace during the entire game, ending by winning 3-0, with the same set scores 25-20 in all three sets.

Both Libby Bauman and Olivia Bender showed an outstanding performance against the Bruins. Libby Bauman scored 16 points, 12 kills, and 9 digs. While Olivia Bender also scored 16 points, 10 kills, 12 digs, and 1 assist. Nicole Hellinga added another 13 digs.

As for the second game, the Condors hosted the Knights on Sunday and saw them return home for the first time since 2020. The Condors had a slow start and lost the first set. Despite improving their offensive plays, the Condors ended up losing the second set 20-25. The third set was tight, the Condors were very close to securing it. However, the Knights were able to reverse the game and won the last set with a score of 26-28; the final score is 0-3 for the Knights.

Libby Bauman scored 8 points, 7 kills, and 8 digs. Olivia Bender finished with 7 points, 11 digs, and 7 kills as well. Nicole Hellinga contributed with 16 digs, the highest number of digs in the game.

The Condors will be playing home against the Fanshawe Falcons (3-2) on Wednesday, February 23, at 6 pm.
