Rob Scott Announced as the Condors Women’s Softball Head Coach

Conestoga's Athletics & Recreation is excited to announce Rob Scott as the Head Coach of the Women’s Softball Program.

Associate Director, Sports and Recreation, Andrew Bates expressed his enthusiasm for the appointment, saying, “We are delighted to welcome Rob Scott as our new Head Coach of Women's Softball. With his impressive background in building successful local baseball programs, we are confident that Coach Scott will bring invaluable expertise to our team. We believe his passion for both sport and coaching mentorship will inspire a culture of excellence on and off the field. We look forward to working with Rob and we anticipate an exciting journey ahead under his leadership."

Coach Scott brings an extensive background in building up the local baseball community, from grassroots T-Ball to coaching the top junior team in the area, the KW Panthers U22 team. Reflecting on his journey, he shared, "I always had a passion for organizing players and wanted to be a coach." His involvement in baseball began nine years ago when his son signed up for T-Ball. Since then, he has volunteered and played a pivotal role in growing the Kitchener Minor Ball Panthers organization.

Over the past nine years, Scott has been actively coaching baseball, dedicating the last four seasons to the 22U JR Panthers summer collegiate club, where he took on the role of field manager in 2022. Under his guidance, the team achieved remarkable success, securing a provincial title and earning a bronze medal at the national level.

For Coach Scott, this appointment is not just a professional milestone but also a personal one, symbolizing a significant moment in his life. Growing up playing Softball, he considers this opportunity as a full-circle moment. Drawing inspiration from his late father, who had also been a dedicated softball coach, Coach Scott is determined to embody the same level of passion and commitment that he witnessed his dad exude and hopes to instill it in his team. This appointment is a tribute to his father's legacy and reinforces his dedication to fostering growth and success within the local community.

Having coached hundreds of ball players throughout his career, Scott humbly attributes his achievements to them and credits them for his growth as a coach. He acknowledges that their support and patience have played a significant role in his coaching journey.

Scott's appointment comes after extensive research on the team and the league. With a strong roster of 14 returning players and promising recruits, he is confident in the team's ability to become a strong competitor in the OCAA. Recognizing the team's outstanding defensive game, Coach Scott intends to focus on boosting their offensive game by instilling confidence and pacing the games strategically.

In accepting the position, Coach Scott shared his excitement for the foundation that has been put in place, stating, "I’ve spent countless hours watching games from previous years and am very excited for the roster foundation that has been put in place for me.  These players are young and got a lot of experience versus teams with 4-5 year vets, and they held their own.  The roster lines up very well with my style of play as a field manager.  My job is now to empower these student-athletes to find the courage to show their strengths and dream big.  If we can continue to build team chemistry and support each other as we grow; I have no doubt we will meet our expectations."

We at Conestoga are incredibly excited to welcome Coach Scott as the new Head Coach and look forward to the continued growth and success of Condors Softball.
