Last Season's Recap

The Condors Women's Softball Team had a balanced run last year with a regular season record of 12-12, showing their potential and room for growth. But this season, they are gearing up to rewrite history and leave their mark on the field.

The summer development program has shown the potential of this team, with dedicated players showing up and working hard. The team has been able to draw in talented new players who have heard of this dynamic team. With a combination of seasoned players and fresh faces, the Condors are looking to soar high and establish themselves as a top-tier team.

Key Returning Players

The team is thrilled to have a long list of solid players returning to the squad this year. Some standouts to watch include:

Hayley Breen (P) – 2022 OCAA All-Star, led the team in wins (8) and ERA (4.66)

Kennedy Schnarr (C) - Starting catcher and 2022 team leader in runs scored (16)

Tanis Hall (P/1B)– Led the 2022 team in doubles (4) and home runs (2)

Danny Ernst (OF) – Led the Condors with 22 RBI and a perfect fielding percentage (1.000) in 2022

These players bring not only their impressive skills to the field but also their exceptional leadership qualities. They've been the driving force behind team chemistry by organizing social events, providing invaluable support to new players, and leading the team by example. Their experience and camaraderie will play a pivotal role in the team's journey to success.

Exciting New Players

The roster also boasts some exceptional new additions:

Cassie Leader - A returning all-star from past teams and the Condors record holder of the most hits in a single game (5). Her legacy as one of the best Condor softball players ever speaks volumes.

Abbey Schnarr - Has been an impressive addition to the team and will be stepping up as a middle infielder. The lineup is looking stronger than ever with these talented players on board.

Coach's Perspective

Coach Rob Scott is brimming with confidence about the upcoming season. He says, "We'll be tough to play against; we want every team to say that was a tough game after playing us. We will be strong, fast, and elite defensively. But what sets us apart this season is team unity at an all-time high; we have a very tight-knit group of players willing to work hard, making us a force to be reckoned with.

Keys to Success

As the Condors step onto the field, their eyes are set on breaking records. With 14 wins as the current record, they're aiming for a triumphant 15-win season. The ultimate goal is to secure a spot in next year's nationals, which goes to the top three teams this year. The dream of an OCAA playoffs medal is within their grasp, and they are determined to make it a reality.

Coach Rob has instilled the belief that every step the team takes now sets the foundation for the program's future. Rob often reads the team the following quote: "A true sense of community is when an old man plants a tree for the shade of future children," driving home the message of the collective commitment to the team's legacy.

Player Perspective

Catcher Kennedy Schnarr reflected on last year and the immense potential the team showed. Kennedy Schnarr recalled that the team displayed a lot of promise but hit a challenging slump that impacted team morale but reiterated that this experience was a valuable lesson that laid the groundwork for growth. For Kennedy, absorbing wisdom from the seasoned leaders of the past year has primed her to embrace her role as a guiding force this season.

Kennedy stated, “The team is eager and excited for more wins this year and believes they can achieve that by bringing competitiveness and intensity to every game, warm-up, practice and strength and conditioning sessions. The team has a wide range of players, all with different roles, and the team acknowledges that each contribution is pivotal to their success. Given the tight schedule of the season, Kennedy also points out the importance of recovering from setbacks and always looking forward.
