The Condors started the season with a four-team tournament. They went through that tournament undefeated. This set the pace for the season. Head Coach Ron Taylor and Assistant Coach Barb Brubaker had one objective during this tournament: to see just how much work was needed and what they had to work with. The team worked hard, putting in 2-3 hours daily practice. The Lady Condors played tuff through snow, rain, and opponents, ending their regular season play undefeated. Going into the O.C.A.A. Championships, everybody was gunning for the Condors. Late in the semi-final game, Coach Taylor signaled a double steal. The move forced a throwing error, leading to the game-winning run and a shot at the Gold Medal. Once again, the Lady Condors played in the weather, also gunning for the high-flying Condors. However, they went on to mercy Durham College in 5 innings. The Condors were blessed with speed, and the coaching staff molded an aggressive team on the base pads. The Condors had 4 players named to the O.C.A.A. All-Star Team. Sandra Moffat was unbeatable on the mound, and her efforts won her the O.C.A.A. M.V.P. Award. Tracy Snedden provided clutch hitting and timely base stealing. Team Captain Jenny VanDerZwaag was driving the ball a mile and provided a constant R.B.I. effort. Michelle Drury was the lady behind the plate who did an incredible job through all the freezing weather. The combination of our all-star performance, the talent, and the work ethic of this wonder team, blended with the expertise of coaches Taylor and Brubaker, proved to be a gold medal mixture for the Condors.
