1979/80 Men's Soccer Team

Bio

Conestoga Condors' first men's team to win a gold medal and a medal of any sort. They had a regular season record of 8-1-1, scoring 39 goals and conceding 11. The divisional playoff wins over Sheridan qualified them for the Ontario finals at Royal Military College in Kingston. They won a relatively easy semi-final 4-0 over St. Lawrence Kingston and convincingly won the final with a 3-1 win over George Brown Huskies. Sam Sanfillipo captained the team. Bobby Frank was awarded the O.C.A.A. most valuable player of the Tournament. Because of the convincing nature of the victories, all 19 players that made the trip to Kingston saw playing time. The most noticeable attributes of the team were its depth (14 players scored goals that season) and its togetherness. This team did everything together, from playing soccer to partying to getting in trouble. It was no coincidence that the team's theme song was "Raise A Little Hell.”
