Defense Propels Conestoga Women's Basketball to victory

(Kitchener, Ontario) Conestoga Condors evened up their record at 1-1 with a 57-38 win over Niagara Knights. The Condors got off to a blistering start, scoring the game's first 12 points. They never looked back and held the lead for the entire game.

 

Shaylee Doxtator led the way with 16 points for the Condors, while Jamila Beckford was active on the glass with a game-high 17 rebounds. She also chipped in with 14 points of her own. Hannah Baker scored 10 points with two 3-pointers as she was Niagara's leading scorer.

 

Ramla Abdalla was very active as she led the Condor's in minutes with 36. She put up a full stat line tonight with 11 points, 12 rebounds, 6 assists, and 3 steals.

 

The Condor's outscored the Knights 38-22 in points in the paint as they dominated the game in that area. The story of the game was defense for the Condors, as they held Niagara's field goal percentage to just 18%. They were 15 for 82 from the field.

 

Next for the Condors

Conestoga (1-1) will take on the Fanshawe Falcons (2-0) on Saturday October 27th at the Conestoga Recreation Centre, in what should be a great matchup. Last season, the Falcons swept the season series 2-0.
