Bio

Josh Van Horne is from Hespeler, Ontario and has well over a decade of high performance rugby experience. Josh attended Jacob Hespeler Secondary School from 2004-2009 & was varsity rugby captain as well as a 1st team All-Star, he then went to the University of Guelph from 2009-2013, graduating with a Bachelor’s of Arts Degree in Economics. While at the university, he received the Academic Honours Award and played rugby, winning three Ontario University Athletics medals. Josh continued his studies at Conestoga College from 2014-2015, where he received a certificate in Pre-Service Firefighter Education and Training & notably the firefighter fitness outstanding achievement award & was an honour roll student. 

Josh plays club rugby for the Brantford Harlequins and has been with the team since 2010, has also been on the Executive Board since 2013 & has held numerous coaching roles. With the Harlequins, Josh has appeared in four Ontario Premiership finals, winning three & was also a finalist at the 2018 Club National Championships in British Columbia. Josh played with the Ontario Arrows during their 2018 exhibition season and played for the Ontario Blues in 2018, winning the National Championship at the Canadian Rugby Championships. He then went on to play two seasons professionally with the Toronto Arrows in Major League Rugby where he specialized in the set piece for the Arrows and was a contributor in the team reaching the 2019 Major league Rugby semi finals. 

Interestingly, Josh shares almost all of his rugby experiences with his identical twin brother, Tom Van Horne who is now an assistant coach at the University of Guelph. Josh is very excited to use his experiences in order to  build a strong foundation for Conestoga rugby for many years to come.
