OCAA Badminton Championships - Day 1 Results

The Conestoga Condors hosted Day 1 of the OCAA Badminton Championships with some impressive performances spread out among the various participating Colleges.

 

Women’s Singles
OCAA Women’s Player of the Year Huyen Le (George Brown College) dominated her three matches of the day, finishing with a strong 3-0 record. OCAA West Regional All-Star, Glyvette Etis (Fanshawe College), also had a strong first day going 3-0 in her matches. Rounding out the Women’s Singles for top finishers was  Ann Hoang (George Brown College) who went 3-1 in her matches.


Men’s Singles
On home court Conestoga’s Pranav Satheesh had an impressive 4-0 day in his matches. Defending Gold medal champion Ramnish Kumar (Humber College) matched that with a 4-0 record as well.

 

Women’s Doubles
Chloe Rowe and Susanna Quach (Humber College) had an impressive 4-0 day in their matches. Kiersten and Paige Hillman (Georgian College) ran an impressive 4-0 sweep in their matches as well.

 

Men’s Doubles
Arpit Taneja and Ayubu Touray (Humber College) continued their dominant play finishing Day 1 with a 4-0 record. Matching them with a 4-0 result of their own was Saatuik Mahajan and Faizan Shaikh (Seneca College).

 

Mixed Doubles
Humber College continued to show their dominance in doubles play with the team of Desmond Chan and Victoria Duong finishing 4-0 today. The mixed team of Poy Lo and Christine Nguyen from Seneca College had a great first day finishing 4-0 in their matches.

Next up for Day 2 is the completion of the Round Robin play followed by the semi-finals and medal rounds.
