Women's Indoor Soccer Recap - January 23, 2020

The Conestoga Varsity Women Soccer team brought home the gold last weekend at the Centennial Tournament. The Condors topped their group after winning two games against Centennial and Saint Lawrence Kingston and drawing their match against Georgian.

After winning their group, Peter Mackie's side beat Sheridan 2-1 in the semi-finals. Haley MacArthur put the side ahead before Sheridan were awarded a penalty which they converted to tie the game 1-1. But a goal from Megan Voutour secured the Condors' trip to the final against Centennial.

Centennial were looking for redemption after coming second in the group, but our women persevered and went up 2-0 through MacArthur and Veronica Reyes early on in the first half. Centennial halved the lead to make it 2-1, but Voutour and Katelyn Damasco put the game out of reach.

The game finished 4-1, and after the Condors were named the champions going undefeated on the day. Condors captain, Nicole Nusselder, was the standout performer, playing almost every minute in the five matches. The side hope to continue their form as they travel to Redeemer this Saturday.
