Condors Softball making an early statement

Condors Softball Recap

The Condors Women’s Softball team is proving early in the season that they have what it takes to compete with any team in the OCAA.

On Tuesday the 10th the team travelled to play the Humber Hawks.
In game 1, pitcher Brooke Billings (Guelph, ON) held the Hawks offence in check, pitching an impressive complete game shutout with the Condors taking the game 3-0.
Laura Rumph (Dryden, ON) did what you ask for in a leadoff hitter, getting on base 4 times in all of her at bats and scoring 2 runs. Cassey Leader (Kitchener, ON) and Sarah Lisecki (Guelph, ON) contributed key RBI’s for the offence.

In game 2, Humber displayed why they are a powerhouse in OCAA Women’s Softball, with pitcher Meagan Muir shutting down the Condors offence, only allowing 2 hits while striking out 8. The Hawks would take this one with the final score 8-0.

On Saturday the 14th the team travelled to Oshawa to take on the defending OCAA champion Durham Lords.

The first game the Lords would take an early 3-0 lead, only to see the Condors climb back to tie it up at 3. The Lords would prevail in the bottom of the 7th for the game winning run, final score 4-3 for Durham.
Laura Rumph would get on base in 3 of her at bats and Emily Lush (Rockwood, ON) and Madelyn Hammer (New Hamburg, ON) would contribute one RBI each in the Condors loss.

The competitive spirit of the Condors would be on display in Game 2, as they would take back with them a victory over the Lords. The final score was 3-2. Cassey Leader would lead the way offensively with 3 hits, while a key double by Madelyn Hammer would knock in a key RBI. Emily Lush would pitch a stellar game, going the distance to pick up the win.
