Part A: Conestoga Recreation Governing Rules

 

  1. Every participant, player, captain, referee and league staff will all have an active part in ensuring that the guidelines list here as well as the code of conduct are upheld.

 

  1. Indoor Soccer is governed by the policies and rules set forth by Soccer Canada with changes indicated here and in the General Handbook.

 

  1. All official’s decisions are final for all decisions regarding gameplay. Any verbal or physical abuse will result in an automatic 3 game suspension.

 

Part B: Team Captain

 

  1. The team captain must be familiar with all rules and guidelines, and inform players of all rules and conduct expectations.

  2. Each team must identify their team captain at the beginning of each game. If the captain is not present, the team will nominate a player to be acting captain for that game. This person will take on all duties and responsibilities as the actual captain. This person will be identified as the acting captains on the score sheet.

  3. It is the team captain's duty to know his/her duties and responsibilities before the game begins.

  4. Only the captain should be speaking with the referees during the game time. Players who wish to discuss any issue with a referee must ask the captain to speak on their behalf.

  5. It is each captain's responsibility to have the team roster ready on the score sheet by the start of game time.

  6. Any concerns that a captain may have regarding officiating should contact the sports convener in a timely and respectful manner.

Part C: The Teams

 

  1. All players must be full-time Doon/Cambridge campus students with valid student cards. Participants must be on a team roster and only play for one team. If a player plays on an additional team the team will be awarded a default. All participants require student cards to gain entry into the gym. Only players on the game sheet will be eligible to play.

  2. A team will play with 6 members and must have a minimum number of 4 total players. If at any time a team has less than 4 players for a game (eg. Due to penalties, ejection, etc.), the game is a forfeit. If any team member is in doubt of their eligibility, they should speak with their team captain, the Convener or the Recreation and Fitness Coordinator.

  3. Indoor Soccer is a Co-ed sport, though it is not mandatory.

  4. If a team cannot attend a game, they must give at least a minimum of three days notice to the league convener.

 

Part D: Equipment

  1. All Players must wear indoor, gym shoes and proper gym attire. No jeans or pants/shorts with zippers. No street shoes, boots, dress shoes, bare feet, sandals or anything similar.

  2. No jewelry (unless properly taped down), non-elastic headbands, or hard support braces are allowed during game time. Captains will be warned at the beginning of the game to have all their players remove such items. During the game, players found to still be wearing such items will be asked to leave play until it is removed. Constant violations during the game will result in a technical foul.

  3. Gym bags, shoes and other clothing or items must be keep out of the playing area for the safety of all participants.

  4. Shin guards are recommended but not mandatory.

 

Part E: General Game Rules

 

  1. Time: Games will consist of two 15 minute halves. There will be a 5 minute half time. If the game has fallen behind, the Referee/Convener has the authority to resume the game sooner. However, the halftime break must be a minimum of 2 minutes.

  2. The playing area is within the Burgundy border of the gym. Any ball that is played outside of this boundary will result in a kick-in, goal kick or corner kick.

  3. A coin flip will decide who starts withthe first ball.

  4. Substitutions can be made while the game is in progress but must be within 10 feet of the bench and must not interfere with play. If the play is within 10 feet of the bench, you may not substitute. The player coming on must not touch the ball until the player leaving has completely left the playing area.

  5. Any foul that occurs during play will result in an indirect free kick. Violent fouls will result in a yellow card and a 2-minute penalty. The entirety of the penalty is served, even if a goal is scored. A major infraction will result in a red card. A direct red will be a minimum of an additional 1 game suspension.

  6. Slide Tackles are NOT permitted at any time. Repeating offences will result in a yellow card.

Part F: Playoffs

 

  1. All playoff games are single elimination.

  2. Tied: If the score is tied after regulation, a sudden death game will occur. If the game is still tied after the next out will win.

 

Players must play at least 50% of the teams games to be eligible for playoffs
