Part A: Conestoga Recreation Governing Rules

 

  • (1). Every participant, player, captain, referee, and staff will all have an active part in ensuring that the guidelines list here as well as the code of conduct are upheld.

 

  • (2). Cricket is governed by the policies and rules set forth by the International Cricket Council in combination with rules listed here and in the General Handbook.

 

  • (3). All official’s decisions are final for all decisions regarding gameplay. Any verbal or physical abuse will result in an automatic 3 game suspension.

 

Part B: Team Captain

 

  • (1). The team captain must be familiar with all rules and guidelines, and inform players of all rules and conduct expectations.

 

  • (2). Each team must identify their team captain at the beginning of each game. If the captain is not present, the team will nominate a player to be acting captain for that game. This person will take on all duties and responsibilities as the actual captain. This person will be identified as the acting captains on the score sheet.

 

  • (3). It is the team captain’s duty to know his/her duties and responsibilities before the game begins.

 

  • (4). Only the captain should be speaking with the referees during the game time. Players who wish to discuss any issue with a referee must ask the captain to speak on their behalf.

 

  • (5). It is each captain’s responsibility to have the team roster ready on the score sheet by the start of game time.

 

  • (6). Any concerns that a captain may have regarding officiating should contact the sports convener in a timely and respectful manner.

The changes are listed below:

 

Part C: The Teams

 

  • (1). All players must be full-time Doon/Cambridge campus students with valid student cards. Participants must be on a team roster and only play for one team. If a player plays on an additional team, the team will be awarded a default. All participants require student cards to gain entry into the gym.

 

  • (2). A team must have a minimum number of 5 total players.

 

Part D: Equipment

 

  • (1). All Players must wear indoor, gym shoes, and proper gym attire. No jeans or pants/shorts with zippers. No Street shoes, boots, dress shoes, bare feet, sandals, or anything similar.

 

  • (2). No jewelry (unless properly taped down), non-elastic headbands, or hard support braces are allowed during game times. Captains will be warned at the beginning of the game to have all their players remove such items. During the game, players found to still be wearing such items will be asked to leave play until it is removed. A constant violation during the game will result in a technical foul.

 

  • (3). A game ball will be provided for gameplay only (not for practicing). Practice equipment can be borrowed from the Convener.

 

Part E: General Game Rules

 

  • (1). Time: Each game will be held 20 minutes. (3 overs/side of 3 wickets or 15 minutes/side).

 

  • (2). All fair play rules are in effect. This means that everyone must have the opportunity to participate.

 

  • (3). If tied at the end of the game, the game will end in a tie.

 

Part F: Bowling

 

  • (1). Every player may bowl a maximum of 2 overs. Bowlers cannot bowl consecutive overs.

 

  • (2). Bowling will only be done from one end of the playing area.

 

  • (3). ICC Rule for bowling action: No bending the elbow on delivery.

    • 1st offence – Warning.

    • 3rd offence – Disqualified from bowling for the rest of the match.

 

  • (4). The rules of Leg Before Wicket (LBW) is not applied.

 

  • (5). Catch out does not apply for a ball hitting any wall first.

 

  • (6). Bails must come off in order to claim the bowled out or run out.

 

  • (7). The metal base of the stumps will be considered as part of the stumps.

 

  • (8). All wide and no balls will be penalized by giving 1 run and extra delivery to the batting side.

 

Part G: Scoring

 

  • 1. On or below the outline (blue line) on opposite wall 6 runs

    • On or below the outline (blue line) on the opposite wall with a bounce*   4 runs

    • On or below the outline (blue line) on sidewalls* 1 run

    • Ball hitting anywhere above the line or off the ceiling OUT

 

*Batsman CAN run for additional runs on any hit ball except on a 6

** Maximum points scored in one bat is 6

 

Part H: No Ball/Outs

 

  • (1). The no ball rules are as follows:

    • Overstepping by the bowler.

    • Full toss delivery over the hips of the batsman.

      • 1st offense – Warning

      • 3rd offense – Disqualified from bowling for the rest of the match

    • Bouncer over the head.

    • One bouncer between shoulders and head level allowed, a second bounce is a no ball.

    • There will not be any free hit for overstepping a no ball

  • (2). The out rules are as follows:

    • Bowled: when the ball hits the stumps

    • Caught: when the ball is caught before hitting any wall or the floor

    • Out: when the ball hits a wall above the ‘outline’, or the ceiling

    • Stumped: when the batter leaves the crease and the ball hits the stumps. Also when the runner leaves the crease before the ball is bowled and the bowler hits the stumps (bails must fall for both these events)

    • Run Out: when the batter/runner does not reach the other crease before or at the time of the ball hitting the stumps (the ball must have touched some part of a fielder in this event. If the ball hits the stumps directly from the bat or bouncing off the floor, the bowl will be replayed).
