Condor's Cruise past Vipers

Kitchener, Ontario – Conestoga Women's Volleyball took care of the Boreal Vipers in convincing fashion, sweeping the Vipers in straight sets 3-0. The Condors were in control from the start, taking the first set 25-16. They performed at a high level in the second set winning 25-15 and completed the sweep with a 25-20 win in the third and final set of the match.

Olivia Bender lead the way for the Condors with 8 kills and 8 digs. Her 11 points were the most for the Condors. Conestoga won a large amount of their points via kills, beating the Vipers 29-11 in that category.

Outside hitter Savanah Samms also had 8 digs for the Condors tying her for the team lead. We caught up with her after the match asking how she felt about the win.

"We wanted to come out strong from the beginning and execute our middle attacks. That's what we were working on in practice this week"

We also asked her what the team has improved on from the last game vs Fanshawe.

"We communicated much more which helped us execute a lot better. Our serving and covering were much better compared to the game against Fanshawe"

Samms also stated how their serving needs to be much better if they want to compete with the OCAA's best teams.

What's next for Condor's volleyball

Conestoga will look to continue their success tomorrow against Cambrian College. Last season Cambrian defeated the Condor's in both matches they faced each other, but a more experienced team this year could make a difference.
