Coaching Philosophy

To empower my players, I see too many teams calling pitches for the catcher, giving signs for baserunning every single pitch, and just being so controlling over in-game management. I believe that if you properly teach your players how to attack baserunning, pitch selection, etc., they can do things on the fly and it happens more organically. A player deciding the game plan without signs will always be a player of equal talent who has to stop and be told what to do.

What does being a Condor mean to you as we enter the “Striving to Soar” era?

Striving to soar to me means community. It means Condor varsity athletes recognizing that they are all in the top 7% or greater of athletes still playing at this level, supporting each other and genuinely cheering one another on. On my own team, it’s about striving to excel and learn to win ball games. Studies and being a good person aside, winning is all that matters.
